Finally, YTL Communications (YTL Comms) launching its WiMAX service on 19 Nov 2010.  The official website is at

‘Yes’ is YTL Comms’ brand name, same as P1 by Green Packet Berhad. YTL Comms engaged with AGENDA for its product branding and website design including the selection of website address.

My first thought to ‘yes’ is YTL E-Solution- YES, because YTLE is YTL group’s IT arm and has been established for a longer period compare to YTL Comms.

YTL Communications Yes

Why ‘yes’ as brand name?

YTL Comms believe in creating positive change. And they believe they have achieved that through a faster, better and more affordable Internet experience for all Malaysians.

Why domain name

YTL Comms has registered ccTLD ‘’ and ‘’. If TLD ‘’ is available, I believe their brand is now ‘’ instead of ‘’. However, ‘’ is short and ease to remember domain name, they have chosen the right name.

Every Yes account comes with a 018 number

You can use this number on your phone, laptop, or computer. To pre-register for your desire Yes ID with 018 number you may visit their website.

Pay as per you used

YTL comms’ product pricing concept is simple, you pay the amount of the bandwidth you have used. ‘Yes’ would be very much focus on the bundle plan in the near future, for instance bundle with computer or smartphone.

YTL Comms claimed that their service is 3 to 5 times faster than 3G. I believe it depend on the coverage area and the weather conditions. If you are P1 WiMAX users, you should know the result well. Time will proved it.

YTL Comms ‘Yes’ Flagship

The Yes flagship is just right in front the Lot 10 shopping mall in Bukit Bintang, KL. A small stand alone building feature modern and art design.

‘YTL Comms’ NOT ‘YTLC’

Do you know why YTL Communications Sdn Bhd using ‘YTL Comms’ instead of ‘YTLC’ as their short name?
‘C’ in Chinese Hokkien means ‘Die’. If you are the boss of the company, do you want to hear people say YTL ‘C’? They can use YTLe for YTL E-solutions but not YTLc for YTL Communications. 🙂

Bottom line

If you want to register the Yes plan, I would suggest to wait for another few more months. Let’s we hear what the users feedback first.

P1 has a strong competitor now, what strategy do they have to compete with Yes? I realised P1 spent a lot of money on press advertisement these few weeks…

I am one of the Yes customer with the huddle plan paid RM 1199, I am staying at Bukit Idaman behind the selayang hospital, when I check at LOT 10 there is coverage but when I try at home there is no coverage, I really hope that YTL will try to improved the coverage, I bought the package because I am changing my internet provider because I have the other providers (celcom and Maxis) which is poor where my internet is very slow and difficult to work and sometimes not available, I really hope YTL will do something about it, this package is introduce to me by a friend who works for YTL.

I purchase a YES Zoom modem in good faith as my P1 was slowing down and sometimes no connection. When I set the Zoom up in my condo, I received one blinking light, and no service. This was on May 4th
Since then I have received no service and their careline even called me, after nearly three weeks of no action, to ask for my patience to and their Technical Team would update me when they have a solution. It is now 3 weeks with no service, but I am still paying and get nothing. Their careline now tell me it’s because I’m on 20th level condo, but the salesman said this would be better service higher up. I have had to increase my monthly data to Maxis, at my cost, and keep my P1 – at least it works, even if it’s slow! I have emailed the ceo of Yes, Wing K Lee, at and suggest anyone who is having a problem with Yes do the same. In one email to them I said “If I went into McDonal’s and ordered a burger meal, paid them about RM20 and then they said they don’t have any and will update me by phone when they are ready, would they still be in business, or would they be closed down for misrepresentation?” Of course I receive no response.
